Helpful Search Tips:

  • The search fields are not case sensitive.
  • The search fields do not accept symbols.
  • Where the address contains hyphens and/or accents, for example Val-Thérèse or St-Eugène, be sure to include these.
  • For an address search, at a minimum you must enter the street name and city.
  • You cannot search using only a postal code.
  • This Registry will return information for exact matches for the specific data which you enter in the Registry "Search By" screen. It is important that your search contains accurate information for the Provider's Name, Business Name or Address. If you are uncertain of the exact spelling you may wish to verify the information before searching, or try alternate spellings, or complete a partial search.
  • You can enter partial data for a search, for example one or more letters of first and last names, or the street name and city name. Where multiple results are returned, "Select" the result which matches your query.
  • When searching by provider’s name, you must enter some information into both the first and last name fields.

Here are some things to consider when you search:

  • What is the correct spelling of the Provider's first and family names: for example, Jerry Smith or Gerry Smyth?
  • What is the correct spelling of the Provider Business Name: for example, Kids Kare Center or Kids Care Centre?
  • What is the correct spelling of the Addresses: for example, First Street or 1st Street?
  • What is the correct City name: for example, is the address in Thornhill or Vaughan?

There will be no information found on the registry for an unlicensed child care provider if:

  • The complaint is still under active review, or
  • A site inspection was completed and no violation of the Day Nurseries Act (DNA) was found, meaning the child care provider was NOT:
    • Providing care to more than five children under 10 years of age and/or
    • Providing private-home day care at more than one premises without a licence, or
  • The circumstances do not require a licence under the Day Nurseries Act, for example:
    • Recognized children's recreational programs
    • Instructional programs (swimming lessons, Boy Scouts/ Girl Guides, etc.)
    • Summer camps (non-recurrent ten-week programs)
    • Child-minding program – parents on site (ESL programs or fitness clubs with on-site child-minding)
    • "Grandfathered" private schools (have until July 1, 2015 to obtain a DNA licence).
